Does it make me the least punk person ever if I admit that I know and like someone who works for a police department? Like, don’t mistake - I understand systemic corruption and embedded power structures, the militarised tools of oppression etc. I’m not oblivious to the much wider problems and i’m not in defence of them. Meanwhile though, my friend’s job involves catching rich assholes - predominantly white men - who embezzle money for their own greed. This post isn’t meant as a grandiose statement or anything. It’s just that “kill all cops” rhetoric is everywhere right now, which makes sense given that Ferguson is so far beyond description or comprehension in terms of injustice… I don’t want my friend to die, though. I think they do good work as part of a bad system. Call me out on this if you like. I want to discuss this more.

    Hey Coffee Eyes!
You got me coughin’ up my cookie heart.

    Forever this.

(Hearing stories from Casey R about Mike’s mum dropping him off after school to record this was cute as hell.)

My guitar stuff got some reblogs from cool guitar types (hi 420lbsound), so I thought i’d share this neat pic of my EGC and my Soloway, just hangin’ out (with my HD130 in the back for good measure). I haven’t had much time to just play guitar on my own lately, so I stole a couple of hours before Caitlin’s birthday thing. I need to do this more often.

The opening line of the chorus states “I never had to knock on wood.” This may mean “I never had to…(knock on wood)” referring to something that the singer has never had to do (i.e. face a huge crisis) and utilizing the superstitious phrase “knock on wood” — said in the hopes that a good thing will continue to occur after it has been acknowledged. Alternatively, it may simply be a statement he has not had to “knock on wood” for good luck, in the face of a challenge.

Following the former interpretation of the first line, the mid-chorus lyrics, “It makes me wonder if I never had to knock on wood” are more easily understood with the insertion of ellipsis and other punctuation, i.e. “it makes me wonder if I…? Never had to… (knock on wood).”

Kate and I went for a place and we didn’t think we’d get it, but we got it, so we’re moving to Northcote in 10 days time. We weren’t even really looking. Now we’re going to be living in a big ol’ 2 bedroom apartment with heaps of light, just us two, and it’s close to everything. I’m fucking chuffed.
